The status of being a Chateaux Society Owner-Member will give you access to magnificent vacation resorts that boast some of the top world-class golf courses.

Vail

While you’re in residence of your Vail Chateau, you will have access to the exclusive Red Sky Golf Club, which has been consistently ranked as one of the top100 golf courses in the U.S.

You will be challenged by two masterful courses of varied terrain meandering through historic ranchlands and dense aspen groves.  Panoramic views of the mountains surprise you at every turn. Tom Fazio and Greg Norman each designed a course that has transformed 800 acres of Colorado into a high-altitude playground with the dramatic backdrop of the majestic Rocky Mountains.

The Tom Fazio Par 72 course measures 7,113 yards and has spectacular views of Vail’s famous Back Bowls, open sage covered hills, an aspen forest and a highland lake. The course is fulfilling to players of all skill levels. In addition to creating an extraordinary course, the Fazio team incorporated the site’s indigenous vegetation with the design by relocating 23,000+ native plants to nurseries for re-planting throughout the course.

Greg Norman allowed the flow of the natural landscape to determine the flow of play on the course he designed for the Red Sky Golf Club. As you play this 7,580-yard, Par 72 course you’ll be swept away by one of the most natural and beautiful courses in the region. This wilderness golf experience gives you the challenges of working around the treasures of the natural landscape: jagged rock outcroppings, twisted knots of scrub oak, rugged gulches, and wildflower meadows.

As an Owner-Member you will have access to the member-only clubhouse and its many exclusive member-only amenities, the guest clubhouse, two driving ranges, the Silver Sage Restaurant and the only David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Colorado.

The beauty and challenges of the Red Sky Golf Club is conveniently located only 20 minutes from the Vail/Eagle County airport.

Kauai

Kauai has eight golf courses that have been designed to take advantage of the dramatic scenery of the island while challenging the handicap of any golfer. The well-known designers of these courses (Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and Toyo Shira) have used the awe-inspiring island scenery to create unforgettable golf experiences.

Princeville Resort  is most convenient to your Kauai Chateau – just minutes away at Hanalei.  This luxury resort has two World-Class Championship courses: The Makai and the Prince.  Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed both of these Par 72 courses.

Golf Digest has rated The Prince among the top courses in the Hawaiian Islands.  Various golf publications have repeatedly reported that The Prince and The Makai are among the best golf courses in the country.

Once you’ve experienced a Princeville Resort golf course, you’ll understand why architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr. said:  “In all the world, I never expect to find a more spectacularly beautiful place to build a golf course than Princeville, overlooking Hanalei Bay.”

Lake Tahoe

The Old Brockway Golf Course  is just minutes away from your Split Rock Chateau.  This 3,400 yards, nine-hole course was designed by John Duncan Dunn who incorporated the beauty of the Jeffrey pines and breathtaking views of the mountains and lake into the meandering course - known for its tight fairways and small greens. This is a par 36 course and was rated as a top 10 nine-hole course by Golf Today Magazine. Old Brockway is a Lake Tahoe tradition.

The Incline Village Resort has two world-class golf courses: The Mountain and The Championship Courses.

The Mountain Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. It’s an 18-hole, Par 58 adventure designed to challenge your shot-making skills and is consistently voted the “Best Golf” by Tahoe locals. The dazzling greens sites and contours demand accurate shots even though you’ll be distracted by the natural landscaping and incredible views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed the Championship Course: an 18-hole, Par 72 masterpiece that was completely renovated in 2004. Bunkered greens and lateral water hazards on nearly every hole will test your accuracy and distance game as you maneuver through tightly cut fairways. Jones, Sr. described the Championship Course as "the ideal mountain layout with a challenge you won't want to miss and views you will never forget".

Squaw Creek  is another North Shore golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. which is found at the base of Squaw Valley U.S.A. Squaw Creek is a Par 71, links-style course including 6,931 yards surrounded by six majestic Sierra peaks. It’s an environmentally-conscious course that is recognized by Audubon International as a Certified Cooperative Sanctuary. This golf work of genius does not use any pesticides and only a minimal amount of organic- based fertilizer. Squaw Creek strives to be a safe haven for wildlife while presenting a golf challenge in the midst of the beautiful wetlands of Squaw Valley.

Old Greenwood  cannot go without mention. This is a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course: 18-hole, 7,542 yards, Par 72. Nicklaus’ personal attention to detail and ability to design a course that works in harmony with the natural landscape is evident. This golf experience within the majestic Tahoe scenery has been known to rival other Nicklaus courses.

The Lake Tahoe golf adventures, both on the North Shore and at South Lake are endless with even more golf courses available in Carson Valley which is about an hour away from Tahoe.

Scotland

St. Andrews  is the Mecca for passionate golfers who have the lifetime goal of playing the infamous and challenging courses of the “Home of Golf”.   The Kingdom of Fife offers 45 unique golf courses including the renowned seaside Old Course at the Links of St. Andrews.

Where can one start to describe the Old Course Championship experience? The Old Course has been giving unforgettable challenges to golfers for over 600 years. The course starts and ends in St. Andrews. Every hole is a unique test. You’ll face 112 bunkers: among them the famous “Hell” on the long 14th, “Strath” on the short 11th and the “Road” bunker on the 17th hole, which is the most famous golf hole in the world. You’ll even have to play large double greens requiring 100-yard putts. What makes the Old Course truly amazing, besides its extreme difficulty, is that it has evolved without the influence of any one architect. Is it any wonder that the Old Course is Tiger Woods’ favorite?

There are five other St. Andrews Links public courses, all played by the legends of golf that present challenges for beginners as well as champions and everyone in between.

Balgrove is the best course for beginners and Strathtyrum is ideal for those with high handicaps. The other two championship courses include the New and Jubilee - true links experiences. If you’re not quite ready to face the toughest of golf challenges, try the Eden Course for a less daunting yet authentic links experience. The golf practice centre and two clubhouses are also open to the public.

In your time away from the links, you may even want to visit the British Golf Museum so you can learn what’s been going on in the world of golf since its beginnings in the middle ages. The evolution of the sport is explored through exhibits and interactive displays featuring the players, tournaments and equipment of the past and present.

As a golf fanatic, you know that there’s more to Scotland than kilts and castles: Scotland is the birthplace of your obsession where you will lose yourself in the unmatched settings, the traditions of the sport and the joy of the game.
